FALL SESSION (October) – Northern Puglia

Flora, Fauna, and Landscapes

LOCATION:  Masseria Stefanodelconte Agriturismo

The history of Masseria "Stefanodelconte" spans over two hundred years. The olive oil mill, which constitutes the original core of the historical building, dates from the late eighteenth century. Built by the Amati-Lamberti family, the mill was used for grinding and extracting oil from the "olive della marina," as the olive trees growing by the seaside are traditionally known among local people.

Precise restoration and conservation have been carried out on the ancient mill: this has allowed the preservation of the visible elements of the unique process of the olive pressing as it was historically carried out in this part of Italy.

Over two centuries, the name of the first "Massaro," the original owner of the Masseria, has remained attached to this farmhouse, despite the many family changes over the generations. The first owner was a man called "Del Conte," a name which referred to a farm where he had lived in the preceding decades, located in the countryside around the town of Cisternino.

Masseria "Stefanodelconte" is the perfect location for an authentic experience of a place that still preserves its charming, original and unique character that exemplifies the Curiosare Italia lifestyle.

SPRING SESSION (May) – South of Puglia

LOCATION:  Villa Tenuta Dell'Alto

The Villa is located in a unique position 15 miles north of Lecce, the jewel of the Salento region. Situated on a ridge overlooking miles of olive groves and vineyards, it was the country residence of a noble family from Lecce built in the early 1800s with its chapel and gardens. We purchased it from a retired priest who had turned the house and grounds into a boy scout camp, filling the house with bunk beds and transforming part of the lawns into a soccer field. After a two-year renovation project, the villa has been fully restored and partly reimagined to become a six-bedroom, six-bathroom vacation home. The gardens have been rejuvenated and expanded. The original orange garden has been rebuilt and returned to its former glory.

The villa also has a beautiful infinity pool that takes full advantage of the magnificent views of the surrounding area. Tenuta dell’Alto is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the country life of the Mezzogiorno and explore the beauty of Puglia, especially the rich and vibrant nearby Salento region.
